I had the amazing opportunity to speak to kids (first graders and eight graders) at a Chicago charter school in Bucktown today. My friend, Erica who is a first grade teacher, asked me to speak to the kids on career day - and it was such a honor that she thought of me. I had no idea what to expect, but I had a blast with the kids telling them my story and getting to know theirs.
After talking to three different classrooms, Erica asked if we can do a mini-talk show with her students - so we totally did! The kids came up, I got to ask them questions like: What's your favorite ice cream flavor, your favorite color, do you have brothers and sisters, etc. Then, we thought it would be cool if the students (first graders) could interview each other. So we brought up some kids to ask each other questions about their lives. It was so cool to see them interact, hear their interests and it was remarkable to see how genuine they were with their responses.
Kids are incredible and now that I have one on the way, it excites me that I can tell kids that they can pursue their dreams if they believe in it enough and willing to commit to their craft. I want to travel to hundreds of schools and inspire kids across the globeI I can't wait for that day to happen - the day we can reach millions of people that can benefit from our message, but we are VERY happy just influencing one person for now.
Have a wonderful weekend!
