As a hip hop fanatic, this interview meant a lot to me. I had a blast chatting it up with one of the most legendary names in the game, Jermaine Dupri. I met JD at The Crimson Lounge in Chicago at the Hotel Sax. JD was in town to DJ at RJ Melman's birthday party (at Sub 51). That same day I found out he would be in Chicago, I reached out to his management group and locked in an interview with JD. It wasn't as simple as that, but I can't give away my secrets to the public - ya heard!
He flew in from Atlanta to Chicago that day, the second he got out of his SUV car service, he dropped off his Louis luggage and we went right in to the interview.
Everyone that knows about that heard or saw the interview is impressed. The Scott Emo Show had JD on, but what fascinates me more is the fascination of others being surprised we secured that "star" power name for an interview. I always respond back to those with the same answer: We interview real people who have real stories, and JD is a real person who has a real story - he just has a lot of GREAT music that a lot of people enjoyed for 20+ years. But, he has family, he had to climb his way to the top, never compromised his vision and stayed dedicated to his beliefs.
In this particular interview I found out JD is a vegan, doesn't blaze, is so dedicated to his work, but still makes time for his daughter, his favorite tattoo is of his daughter, he created this sick social media platform to allow unsigned artists to send him and others their music, plus much more.
We takled for a hour and we will have a three part video series just on JD.
Below is part 1 and then continue your way to www.YouTube.com/TheScottEmoShow for the rest of the interviews!
All love,
Scott Emo
