Expect The Unexpected

Picture
I need to start off with being honest: Last night was the third best night of my life (1. marrying my wife and 2. was the birth of Elexis). But, this night... WOOOOOOOO! It was a party. A celebration. But, all that depended on one person to show up, be positive, be real and be authentic. I didn't think he'd actually show up for me to even find out...

I was hesitant that Twista would actually show up - and that's not because he's a flake or because he's non-committal - the media game is tough and being an up-and-coming show it's hard to guarantee athletes and entertainers to come on as a guest. So, the night before the show, I slept for maybe 90 minutes total because I was so nervous - I had a lot riding on this. I'm grateful for the GMG team for coming through, being super cool, chill and positive. So blessed! The environment at the studio was perfect, the interaction between people was genuine and GMG is the coolest, y'all... Damn! Chicago has a new fresh and inspiring talk show!

Then...

Then Twista not only showed up, but showed up early...DJ Ope Ski and I were GEEKED (and impressed). Then, I met his team and they were the coolest (in my Billy Madision voice). For real, cool. We all kicked it in our green room area - KICKED it. Then, Twista got his makeup hooked up by Courtney MkDiva Waldon - she murked it. Her makeup skills are raw and her willingness to help a brotha out means a lot - energy is not all about taking, it's about taking AND giving...

It's all about the people: The people who came out to experience the show got a fucking show. Twista was so much fun to talk to, we got real personal and he gave us TWO songs/performances for our show - that shit is crazy and so much love to him, Cuzo, B-Hype, Sunny and Rawl - the Get Money Gang!  Cuzo is Twista's cousin and his DJ, B-hype is Twista's hypeman, Sunny is Twista's road manager and Rawl is Twista's business manager! All amazing people that exuded such amazing energy! If that happened every night, and people could feel that good, life would much more productive and fun.

I want to thank the most important person to me and my true support system, my wife. This was my favorite photo of the evening (repost from my FB pag) and I'm so happy she was able to be there for the entire show. Her love and commitment to our happiness and my happiness is so appreciated and I'm so blessed to have her as my wife and mom to our beautiful baby girl. She has been there for the biggest life events, including my grandparents who passed away, my mom's passing, me getting laid off from my job for the first time in my life and then us having our beautiful and wonderful Elexis! Love you so much Nooney!

Our set was designed by me and Mr. Fishbein from Chicago Corporate Photography and Video - he's an angel sent from my mom. He's one of the greatest and most creative/hardworking guys I know. His team at his studio is first-class and they are more than a pleasure to work with. The show automatically took a turn for the better because of Jimmy. I'm grateful that we met and we're boys. Much love, Jimmy and to your team! And, for those, who need video/photos - he can make your image look outstanding and your first impression is everything.

Need to thank DJ Ope Ski (top left) for his skills, professionalism and keeping the vibe positive and the music fresh. Thanks, homie - doing big things and love working with you. We synced without talking, we gelled, and he knows how to engage an audience no matter what genre of music he was playing - that's one versatile cat. For those that don't know him - he's a mover and shaker.

Paintball Breaks Down Gender Barriers

I had the great pleasure of attending a paintball event in Pinkney, Michigan called "Hell Survivors". When I first got there I was flabbergasted that there was women there and it wasn't just dudes shooting awesome guns and having a great time on ATV's - you know, real men like the outdoors.
Picture
Tell me the image above doesn't depict a dude-centric event?! But, that wasn't the case at all - women like to blow sh*t up too and that's what I found most fascinating about this event - it brought together outdoor enthusiasts who can come enjoy the same interest no matter what gender one might be. The below photo is proof that girls were having an awesome time and being super bad ass! But being at the actual event gave me a new perspective on the sport.

I'm a big proponent that any sort of entertainment that breaks down barriers for people to unite and I sincerely believe that is the key to peace. Paintball and outdoor events definitely promotes that message and doesn't restrict people from exploring and enjoying their hobbies. I'm definitely going to keep my eye out on the whole paintball world as it continues to grow and grow every day.

Hell Yea - New Update

Damn - feels like I haven't written anything down that came from my soul in a while. I've been laser-focused with work and then spending the little time I have with my lady and baby. It's tough since I've been laid off from my previous job, but I'm blessed because I'm growing. I'm growing as a man, a husband, family man, a businessman and dad. I'm identifying my lane and I'm really passionate about my work - that's the key to so many people's success - being passionate.

Now, I'm grateful because I get to work with a few different clients and help service them for their content marketing needs. It's awesome to brainstorm and create cool ideas that people really love. Fortunate to meet new people all the time that think the way I do. It's cool to develop a circle of people that align with your thought-process, is honest and has respect for one-another. If I can give some advice for a second, my advice is get your circle right, get a team of people that will help you excel and you can help them. Special thank you to Chicago Corporate Photography and video for everything. They're the best!

The show - the show is doing awesome. We are kicking ass, but still experimenting. We're going to continue with that concept until we get it right. Dealing with entertainers and athletes is super difficult for a new show to secure them on our program. It takes a lot of strategy and dedication to convince them why The Scott Emo show will benefit them -Our goal is to be the go-to place, like Oprah was to Chicago.

Shout out to our new sponsor tor the Scott Emo Show is Burell Vodka! Charles, you're the man and I dig working with you bro. Also, thanks to team Twista for coming on the show this Tuesday - super happy about having him on.

I also updated our website, so  you can check that out too. I also realized my Facebook ads drove a lot of traffic to my eventbrite page for the Twista event - for all my fellow social nerds!

Baby is crying right now, that's kinda not cool. I'm contemplating If I should keep her crying or let her try and sooth herself.....maybe a passy will work - not sure? The pacifier is working, for now. I'm zonked.

Sleep well!

All love,
Scott Emo
